ICC CWC'11: Match 22: India vs. Ireland: Rote pit-te jeet hi gaye

Sometimes I wonder whether it comes naturally to India or do they do it intentionally! Winning in the most difficult circumstances and losing in the easiest. Today was the amongst the most boring batting performances by India in the recent past. Were they nervous? I don't know, But something was seriously wrong.

Anyway thanks to Yuvraj's 5 wicket haul and 50 India won even after Piyush Chawla's brilliant effort at 'playing himself out of the team'.

ICC CWC'11: Match 15: England vs. Ireland: Ireland have won their World Cup

Well well well... India vs Pakistan, NZ vs Australia, Pakistan vs Bangladesh... and now England vs. Ireland. It seems that next door neighbours make good competitors.

Kevin O'Brien's magnificent record breaking century (the fastest in WC history) helped Ireland set the record for the highest run chase ever in WC history. And on top of it the opposition was their next-door neighbour England. Ireland, it seems, have won themselves their World Cup!

ICC CWC'11: Match 11: India vs England: Good Morning India

As expected Sreesanth was dropped and Piyush Chawla picked. As expected Sachin hit a ton. As expected Sehwag failed. As not expected - Kohli was not sent in at his normal spot and again as not expected he was sent in when Harbhajan Singh should've been sent in.

As expected the UDRS made its maiden controversial decision. As hoped Yuvraj Singh might finally be returning to form. As expected Harbhajan bowled economically but couldn't make a meaningful contribution in terms of the wickets. As not expected, thanks to Strauss' magnificent knock, the match was a tie! Good Morning India!

ICC CWC'11: Match 2: NZ vs Kenya: 'Blackwash'

Well there was no intention of being racist. This was just the first word that came to my mind. It seems Kenya's back to being the weakest team in the World Cup!

Kenya 69 (23.5 ov)
New Zealand 72/0 (8.0 ov)

ICC CWC'11: Match 1: India vs. Bangladesh: Is Dhoni attempting to create a situation where Sreesanth can be thrown out?

The biggest event of the cricketing world has begun. And it is bigger than it has ever been with 14 teams participating in this edition. India for the first time is being touted as the clear favorite to win the world cup. And this is a special one as it might be Sachin's last on the field.

Yesterday was the first match - between co-hosts India and Bangladesh. Sehwag's superb 175 could not wash away the sin that he had committed by running Tendulkar out. It was an easy single that should have been taken. Even a double-hundred would not have helped his cause.

Virat Kohli's superb 100, the third fastest ever in a WC by an Indian, just proves why the debate on his inclusion was unwarranted. If Raina can gain an entry into the team, it is only as Yuvraj 's replacement.

Munaf Patel was on song with a brilliant 4 wickets.

Sreesanth went for plenty in the beginning and was, rather surprisingly, not given an opportunity by Dhoni towards the end of the match to regain his lost confidence. It seems that Dhoni was under pressure because of the public furore against Sreesanth's exclusion, and that is what made him call for Sreesanth. The rift between the two is evident - the captain of a team publically criticising his own opening bowler just a couple of days before their first match. Is Dhoni attempting to create a situation where Sreesanth can be thrown out of the team easily?
